Montréal partner inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame

Richard W. Pound, former Olympic swimmer and Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee, was one of six new members inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in Calgary on November 8. Mr. Pound was being recognized for his achievements in sports, both as an athlete and as an executive.

The firm acted as Canadian counsel to Eurazeo in connection with its acquisition of 3S Photonics SA, a French leader in lasers and opto-electronic components.

Minmetals purchase of Anvil
The firm is acting for Trafigura Beheer B.V., the largest shareholder of Anvil Mining Limited, in connection with Minmetals Resources Limited's $1.3 billion offer to purchase all common shares of Anvil.

Two-time Zenith Award winner
Stikeman Elliott placed first in the "Environmental Action by a Law Firm" category for its firm-wide environmental action plan, and first in the "Philanthropy that Impacts Children" category" for the Calgary office's Kids Inn Play Program

Magotteaux sale to Sigdo Koppers
The firm is acting as Canadian counsel to Belgian-based Magotteaux S.A. in its sale to Sigdo Koppers S.A., one of the largest conglomerates of Chile, for €500 million.

Zarlink acquisition
Stikeman Elliott is acting as Canadian counsel to Microsemi Corp. in connection with its takeover bid to acquire Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. for approximately US$549 million.
