The Stage

The six-month stage is divided into two three-month rotations. Each stagiaire chooses two of the following rotations: corporate, litigation, tax or labour. However, one rotation in either the tax or corporate section is compulsory.

We think that there are a number of advantages to dividing up the stage in this manner. First, this form of rotation provides the stagiaire with the opportunity to sample several practice groups within each section, which enables them to develop some idea as to where their true area of interest lies and to know lawyers practicing in various fields. Second, since much of our work requires the cooperation of lawyers from different practice groups, a rotation system of this type tends to be compatible with our professional activities.
