Stikeman Elliott partner to be inaugural holder of Jarislowsky Dimma Mooney Chair in Corporate Governance at York University's Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business


(Montréal - July 31, 2007) Stikeman Elliott LLP is proud to recognize the appointment of its partner Edward J. Waitzer as the inaugural holder of the Jarislowsky Dimma Mooney Chair in Corporate Governance at the Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business of York University in Toronto. The three-year appointment, which takes effect on January 1, 2008, is a tribute to Mr. Waitzer's reputation as one of Canada's leading lawyers and recognizes his particular expertise as an advisor to boards of directors in complex situations.

Mr. Waitzer is recognized as a leading practitioner in the areas of Corporate Finance & Securities, Corporate-Commercial Law and Mergers & Acquisitions by Lexpert and has advised on many of Canada's most significant business transactions. He is currently the Falconbridge Professor of Law at Osgoode Hall Law School.

During his appointment, Mr. Waitzer will remain an active partner of Stikeman Elliott, of which he was Chair from 1999 to 2006.
