Stikeman Elliott is acting for George N. Gillett in connection with the sale of the Montréal Canadiens and the Bell Centre to the Molson family.

TransCanada $1.84 billion equity offering
Stikeman Elliott acted for TransCanada Corporation in its $1.84 billion prospectus offering of common shares.

TransCanada acquires Keystone
Stikeman Elliott acted for TransCanada Corporation in its acquisition of ConocoPhillips' remaining interest in Keystone Oil Pipeline System for approximately US$750 million. TransCanada will also assume responsibility for ConocoPhillips' share of the capital investment required to complete the project resulting in an incremental commitment of approximately US$1.7 billion through the end of 2012.

Appeal succeeds in insurance case
A team from Stikeman Elliott's Litigation Group successfully represented State Farm Mutual Insurance Company before the Alberta Court of Appeal in a major constitutional case that has significant implications for legislation throughout Canada where litigants are subject to the legislative caps on damage awards.

Two AIG transactions completed
The firm acted as co-counsel for AIG, Inc. in the C$329 million sale of its Canadian life insurance business to Bank of Montreal. The firm also acted as Canadian counsel for AIG, Inc. in the US$739 million sale to Munich Re Group.

The firm's securities and M&A blog, Canadian Securities Law Online, was recognized at the Legal Marketing Association's Your Honor awards, handed out April 2 in Washington, D.C.
