Myriam Fortin
Law Practice
Myriam Fortin is a senior lawyer in the Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Group of the Montréal office of Stikeman Elliott. Her practice includes all environmental aspects of business transactions as well as environmental issues related to the start-up, carrying on, and cessation of operations of a business clientele.

Ms. Fortin advises and represents clients in their dealings with both private parties and governmental authorities on legal and contractual obligations relating to the environment that apply to their operations and properties. The broad range of issues she handles includes those relating to permits; environmental assessment process; management of hazardous materials, effluents, air emissions and noise; discovery of contaminants and remediation of contaminated lands; and environmental risks and other matters relating to the environment in the context of mergers, acquisitions and sales of businesses and properties, commercial leases, financing transactions, and the granting of security on real property; environmental disclosure required of public companies; and all environmental issues related to new projects, ongoing operations, changes in land use or the cessation of activities.

She has represented businesses operating in a wide variety of industry sectors, including forestry, pulp and paper, chemicals manufacturing, aerospace, communications, hydro-electricity, wind farm projects, mining, petroleum, textiles, metals, food, agricultural, pharmaceutical and other product manufacturing industries, management of residual materials, biological treatment of contaminated soils, PPPs, real estate development and financing, as well as other forms of financing.

Ms. Fortin is a member of Quebec Bar (1999), a member of the Canadian Bar Association, and a substitute delegate for Stikeman Elliott to the Business Council on the Environment (CPEQ). She is also a member of the Green Committee of the Montréal Office.
