Law Practice
Greg Plater is head of Stikeman Elliott's Real Estate Group in Western Canada, co-chair of the Stikeman Elliott National Real Estate Group as well as a member of the Public-Private Partnerships/Infrastructure Group and the National Environmental Group. Mr. Plater provides advice with respect to all aspects of real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financings, pre-purchase transactions, development projects, joint ventures, construction arrangements and leasing (including ground leases of private and government owned land) in British Columbia and Alberta, on behalf of a broad range of public and private real estate companies and developers, pension funds, real estate advisors, lenders and municipalities.

In particular, the development projects in which he has provided advice have involved all aspects of the real estate industry and have included significant ground lease projects, mixed use projects, joint development projects, complex strata space/air space parcel projects and projects involving the redevelopment of highly contaminated land. Mr. Plater has provided advice on a variety of significant public-private partnership (PPP) transactions for transportation, medical, judicial and other government infrastructure projects in British Columbia and Alberta, both as counsel to project proponents and as lender's counsel. Most recently, Mr. Plater has developed a particular expertise in acting for municipalities on joint development projects involving the private sector.

Mr. Plater is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Environmental Law, Municipal Law and Real Property Subsections of the Canadian Bar Association. Mr. Plater is a member of the Calgary chapter of NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties).
