Law Practice
Jason Kroft is a corporate law partner practising in the Toronto office of Stikeman Elliott. His practice covers a broad range of advisory and transactional matters in the corporate-commercial law area with a focus on corporate and structured finance matters including financial products, structured finance, energy, commodity and mining products and transactions, public and private asset securitization, banking and secured finance including project finance and covering a range of exchange-traded and over the counter derivative products.

Mr. Kroft's diverse clientele includes banks and other financial institutions and financial intermediaries, investment banks and securities dealers, investment and hedge funds, pension funds and their administrators, governmental and quasi-governmental entities including sovereign wealth funds, industrial companies, mining ventures, trustees, custodians, agents and rating agencies (among others).

He is a member of the firm's Structured Finance and Financial Products Group, Energy Group, Mining Group, Investment Funds Group, Emissions Trading and Climate Change Group and Banking Group.

Mr. Kroft has been recognized by Lexpert as a Leading Lawyer Under 40 as well as in The Best Lawyers in Canada 2017 and Lexpert/American Lawyer Media's 2017 Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada in the area of Derivative Structures. He is recognized by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2017 as a leading practitioner in the Derivative Instruments sector, named a "Corporate Lawyer to Watch" in Lexpert's 2012 Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada, named in Lexpert's Special Edition on Canada's Leading Energy Lawyers, November 2015 as well as Lexpert's Special Edition on Canada's Leading Lawyers in Global Mining, December 2015 and was included in the 2014 Lexpert Special Edition on Energy in the Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine. Mr. Kroft has been recognized by the 2017 Acritas StarsTM in the field of Corporate law.

Professional Activities
Mr. Kroft is an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School in the fields of negotiation and business enterprises. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and an active member of the American Bar Association's Business Law Section. Mr. Kroft is a member of the Canadian Bar Association.

Mr. Kroft is the Chair and coordinator of our firm's pro bono involvement with the Osgoode Hall Law School business law clinic.

Mr. Kroft has written and spoken on various topics related to corporate finance and business law including business enterprises, energy, emissions trading and climate change matters including renewable energy products and transactions, mine financing, asset securitization, structured finance, derivative products, mediation and negotiation theory.

He was the co-chair of the University Health Network's capital campaign in transplantation and a member of the Board of Directors of the Kidney Foundation of Canada and is currently a member of the Kidney Foundation of Canada's Ontario capital campaign executive board.

Mr. Kroft completed his articles as a law clerk to the Justices of the Court of Appeal for Ontario. He completed a six-month secondment with a multi-national business firm focusing on cross-border business transactions and a four-month secondment at a Canadian Schedule I bank.
