Law Practice
Brian Hansen is the Managing Principal and Practice Coordinator of the Asia Pacific Group. Mr. Hansen has been heavily involved in the Asia Pacific region for over twelve years, working on large projects for Stikeman Elliott out of Hong Kong, Vancouver, and, most recently, Sydney. He has also spent five years in London, England where he was responsible for the firm's capital markets activities, which amounted to over Can $22 billion of financings during that period.
Mr. Hansen's experience in the Asia Pacific region has focused primarily on large projects and in recent years has included substantial involvement in nuclear power facilities in the People's Republic of China, thermal power plants in the People's Republic of China, India and the Philippines, toll highways and toll bridges in the People's Republic of China, telecommunications acquisitions in Indonesia, telecommunications financing, joint ventures and establishment of mobile phone operations in the People's Republic of China, corporate restructurings in Thailand and Indonesia, numerous syndicated financings and other banking facilities for entities in the Asia Pacific region.
Mr Hansen relocated to Sydney in 1998, where he has been primarily involved in international securities offerings, major international transactions including the acquisition and disposition of a major financial services company, the bid for the Lucas Heights Nuclear Reactor and the successful bid by Hong Kong clients for ETSA Utilities, CitiPower, Powercor, Cross City Motorway, Lane Cove Tunnel and the subsequent operation of these entities, representation of large Australian companies in activities in Canada, together with his continuing project work in Asia.

Professional Activities
Mr. Hansen has chaired and spoken before numerous professional groups, including the International Bar Association and Inter Pacific Bar Association. He has edited four books and published more than 40 articles in the taxation, corporate and securities areas. He has also worked in our London and Vancouver offices.
