Michael Burkett
Law Practice
Michael Burkett is a partner practising corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and private equity transactions, both private and public. He regularly advises domestic, U.S. and international clients in connection with acquisitions, corporate finance, securities and general corporate commercial law. Mr. Burkett also advises issuers and underwriters in connection with initial public and secondary offerings as well as bought deals and private placement transactions.

Mr. Burkett's clientele includes securities dealers, mining companies, investment funds, media and telecom companies, private equity firms, pension funds, technology companies, and industrial and manufacturing companies.

Mr. Burkett was recognized in Lexpert Leading Canadian Lawyers in Global Mining 2016, as well as The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2017 as a leading practitioner in Corporate Finance and Securities Law, Corporate Commercial Law, M&A and Corporate Mid-Market. Additionally, Mr. Burkett was recognized in the 2013 Lexpert Guide to the Leading U.S./Canada Cross-border Corporate Lawyers in Canada under "Corporate Lawyers to Watch" and finally in the 2012 edition of Lexpert's Rising Stars as one of Canada's "Leading Lawyers Under 40". Mr. Burkett is a member of the Toronto office's Associates Committee.

Professional Activities
Mr. Burkett is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada and the American Bar Association. Mr. Burkett has lectured on corporate law at York University's Schulich Business School and has held the role of Adjunct Professor of Advanced Corporate Law at Western University Law School.
