Law Practice
Jeffrey Brown is a partner in the Ottawa office and a member of the firm's Competition and Foreign Investment Group. Mr. Brown's practice comprises competition law and related areas, such as foreign investment review and unfair trade practices. Mr. Brown has advised clients in respect of Canadian regulatory aspects of numerous complex mergers and acquisitions, including Newell Rubbermaid's acquisition of Jarden Corporation, CRH plc's acquisition of Holcim Canada, Garda's acquisition of G4S's Canadian cash solutions business, Universal Music's acquisition of EMI's Canadian recorded music business, ABB's acquisitions of Baldor and Thomas & Betts, Canadian Tire's acquisitions of Forzani and Pro Hockey Life, as well as ratiopharm/Teva, Solvay/Abbott, Sherwin-Williams/Comex, Van Houtte/Green Mountain, Panasonic/Sanyo, Essar/Algoma and Alcatel/Lucent. Mr. Brown also regularly counsels clients with respect to marketing practices and civil and criminal compliance with the Competition Act, as well as compliance with the Investment Canada Act.
