Jean-Guillaume Shooner
Law Practice
Jean-Guillaume Shooner is a partner and a member of the Tax group in the Montréal office of Stikeman Elliott. He practices in the areas of commodity taxes (GST/HST and QST), customs laws and regulations, corporate tax planning, and tax issues relating to mergers, acquisitions and corporate reorganizations.

Mr. Shooner expertise is primarily focused on commodity taxation and trade matters, providing advice in the areas of international trade, customs, procurement, Goods and Services Tax, sales tax, transfer pricing, dispute settlement and regulatory matters to major national and international corporations.

Mr. Shooner is included in the following publication:

  • The Best Lawyers in Canada 2017 in the international trade and finance law and the tax law sectors;

  • The 2015 Rising Stars edition of Lexpert as one of the Leading Lawyers Under 40 in Canada;

  • The Legal 500 Canada 2015 in the international trade sector.

Professional Activities
Mr. Shooner is a member of the Quebec Bar. He is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association and the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF) where he sits on the committee for the Commodity Tax Symposium. In addition, he is a member of the office's Continuing Legal Education Committee.

Community Involvement
Member of Moisson Montréal's board of directors, a non-profit organization that manages the largest food bank in Quebec.
