Roanne C. Bratz
Law Practice
Roanne Bratz is a partner in the Montréal office of Stikeman Elliott. She has over 30 years of international taxation experience. Her career began with a position as an attorney working for Chief Counsels Office, Internal Revenue Service in Miami, Florida. From 1980 to 1981, she represented the Commissioner of the IRS before the U.S. Tax Court and was one of a dozen attorneys assigned to a special tax shelter litigation group within the Southeast District. Ms. Bratz returned to Montréal in 1981 and since then has worked in the tax department of the Royal Bank of Canada, the tax department of Price Waterhouse and headed the international high wealth practice of Ernst & Young LLP, before joining Stikeman Elliott in November of 2000. She has been involved in personal tax minimization having extensive experience with the individual tax aspects of international executive transfers and wealth transfer planning. She has also been involved in sophisticated U.S. tax planning in the corporate sector dealing with all aspects of corporate income tax associated with cross-border transactions including corporate restructuring, acquisitions and divestitures.

Professional Activities
Ms. Bratz is a Governor Emeritus of the Quebec Bar Foundation, an Executive Member of the Lord Reading Law Society and an Executive Member and Secretary of STEP Canada (Montréal Branch). Ms. Bratz was awarded the 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award by The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), recognizing her extraordinary voluntary contributions to the STEP Montréal branch. She is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Association de planification fiscale et financière, the International Fiscal Association and the International Who's Who of Professionals. Since 2009 she has been a member of the Organizing Committee for the ABC Awards Ball for the Montréal Children's Hospital Foundation, and is an acting Chair at Student Tribunal Hearings for Concordia University.
