Daniel S. Murdoch
Law Practice
Dan Murdoch is a partner practising in the Litigation Department of Stikeman Elliott's Toronto office. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and insolvency and restructuring matters. He has acted for issuers, underwriters and directors and officers in securities class actions, and his litigation practice involves a wide range of commercial matters, including class actions, shareholder disputes, insurance, employment, real estate and franchise disputes. In his insolvency practice, Dan has acted for debtors, monitors and creditors in CCAA, bankruptcy and receivership proceedings, including cross-border CCAA/Chapter 15 proceedings. He has appeared at all levels of courts in Ontario, regulatory tribunals, and has experience in commercial arbitration. Mr. Murdoch has been recognized in Benchmark Canada: The Definitive Guide to Canada's Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys 2017 and in the 2017 Acritas StarsTM in the field of Litigation law.

Professional Activities
Mr. Murdoch is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and The Advocates' Society.

University of Toronto Faculty of Law (J.D. 2002), Queen's University (B.Comm. 1998).

Prior to joining the firm in March 2006, Mr. Murdoch practised for over three years in the litigation department of a major American law firm in New York. His practice in New York included work on complex commercial litigation, including bankruptcy and insolvency matters, class actions and SEC investigations.
