The Database/Application Administrator will be responsible for administering and monitoring of SQL Server databases. The DBA will also perform assigned tasks in the areas of performance monitoring, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery, database creation, upgrades and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of company databases.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure and upgrade database software and related products
  • Establish and maintain database backup and recovery policies
  • Monitor, manage and tune database technologies
  • Identify database performance concerns and resolve by leveraging logging and monitoring tools
  • Troubleshoot (diagnose & resolve) issues and support tickets regarding database and application environment
  • Plan Database growth and changes (capacity planning)
  • Proactively identify problems and opportunities for improvement of Database services
  • Implement and maintain database security
  • Execute SQL Scripts for the environment based on approved requests (i.e. RFC, incident management, project, etc.)
  • Maintain database inventory and licensing
  • Create and maintain database related models, documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Enforce database standards
  • Perform general technical trouble shooting, performance tuning and provide consultation to the development team
  • Maintain database Patch Management and Version Control
  • Collaborate with others to effectively support Databases (and/or system(s)) to help achieve an environment that meets current and future business objectives
  • Work directly with software developers, providing input and education on database best practices for the design, development, data access, testing, and delivery of projects
  • Help tune specific queries, indexes, and stored procedures

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in Information Technology
  • Work experience deploying, administering and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server 2014
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server is required including experience with MS SQL Reporting. SQL experience should also include scripting Tables, Views, Triggers, Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions and other T- SQL statements for various applications
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to verbally communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences, including technical staff and senior management; Technical writing skills for documenting operational support guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and other Technical documentation
  • Experience with data transformation and migration from various databases
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Windows desktop and server operating systems
