The National Technology Trainer is responsible for facilitating/delivery training courses on software applications with the goal of increasing technical proficiency across the firm. You will be responsible for the delivery and facilitation of training courses, content and learning curriculums for learners firm-wide. This role requires a working knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and a wide array of facilitation techniques.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Facilitating Training (75%):
  • Facilitates the technology-related portion of the new hire/onboarding training program across the firm
  • Facilitates hands-on workshops for continued development or new software launches for firm members across all offices
  • Responds to individual requests for assistance / additional training
  • Provides individualized training for the firm’s lawyers/staff when necessary
  • Assists in co-ordinating training schedules for training workshops and firm-wide launches
  • Provides HR or Hiring Manager with an evaluation of new hires’ progress
  • Informs the Technology Department’s team of all issues identified during training sessions, which may indicate a problem with the Firm’s hardware and/or software
  • Makes recommendations concerning the progress of trainees
Design Training (25%):
  • Updates training materials (e-learning and handouts) as needed
  • Provides feedback/ideas on how the firm’s lawyers/staff can leverage technology more efficiently in their workflow
  • Keeps current on emerging training techniques, product knowledge and industry information

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Degree or certification in training and/or related experience (Bachelor of Adult Education strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Expert Knowledge with Legal software
  • Expert knowledge with Microsoft Office products e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, Visio, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in adult learning principles
  • Thorough knowledge of training techniques
  • Prior use of a learning management system to establish learning plans, administer classes, and track and record attendance
  • Experience training end users on commercial software commonly used in law firms – such as InterAction, Workshare Compare, PDF Docs, etc. – experience working in a law firm strongly preferred
  • Experience updating course curriculum
