The next stage of your promising legal career starts here

Stikeman Elliott’s Toronto office participates in the annual 2L summer student recruitment process.

Stikeman Elliott welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in any aspect of the selection process.

We only accept applications for summer law student positions through the viLaw Portal.

Cover letters should be addressed to the attention of:

Susan Pak
Director, Student Programs and Professional Development
Stikeman Elliott LLP
5300 Commerce Court West
199 Bay Street
Toronto, ON M5L 1B9
Canada

Please include the following in your application:

  • cover letter
  • resume
  • official academic transcripts from all post secondary institutions attended (scanned copies of original transcripts are sufficient; mailed hard copies are not required)
  • a list of your current and proposed upper year course selections

We are also happy to receive reference letters, but they are not required. We do not require writing samples.

After we receive your application

  • You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt email once we receive your application.
  • For summer student candidates at law schools where we participate in OCIs, your law school will inform you directly about whether you will be meeting with us during OCIs. After meeting with candidates, we will contact you by email to let you know whether we will be calling you on Call Day.
  • For summer student candidates at law schools where we don’t participate in OCIs, we will contact you by email if we would like to set up a Skype interview with you prior to Call Day.

Interview week

For summer student in-firm interview week, we hold first interviews on Monday or Tuesday. Follow-up interviews are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday so that you can come back to meet with more people at the firm and learn more about us.

We suggest that you allow for a two-hour interview timeslot at the firm for first interviews, and one hour for follow-up interviews. This will give you time to meet with a variety of lawyers and students, and get a real sense of our office culture and work environment.
