Lawson Hunter receives Lifetime Achievement award

Congratulations to Lawson Hunter, the recipient of the Chambers Canada - Lifetime Achievement award at this year's Chambers Canada Awards ceremony held on September 29 in Toronto.

This award recognizes a long-standing and influential member of the Canadian Bar, whose prominent practice and global renown sets him or her apart as a leading lifetime practitioner. The award is based on 15 years of research interviews into the Canadian market, including recommendations from peers and other commentators, as well as length of time and position in the Chambers rankings. For Mr. Hunter, this award recognizes his outstanding career and experience in Canadian business, government and private practice. His impressive track record includes: Commissioner of the Competition Bureau from 1981 to 1985, where he played a significant role in the drafting of the Federal Competition Act; heading our Competition and Foreign Investment Group for over ten years; serving as the Executive Vice-President and Chief Corporate Officer of Bell Canada and BCE Inc. from 2003 to 2008; and his continued practice as counsel in our Ottawa office advising Canadian and multinational corporations on all areas of federal regulatory law and policy.

Mr. Hunter has received numerous other recognitions over his illustrious career both in Canada and internationally, including in Chambers Global and Chambers Canada, Lexpert, Global Competition Review 100, Who's Who Legal 100, Best Lawyers, and The Best of the Best as one of the World's Top 20 competition and antitrust lawyers.

Mr. Hunter accepted this award at the Chambers awards reception on Thursday, September 29 in Toronto at the Royal York Hotel.
