In Focus: Restructuring & Insolvency Group achieves high marks

The Stikeman Elliott team outshone its competitors this year by winning Canadian Insolvency Law Firm of the Year at the Benchmark Canada 2018 Awards. Further, seven members of the team were recognized in the Benchmark Canada 2018 Guide for achieving the highest recognition in the restructuring and insolvency area.

  • Guy Martel, earned a higher ranking this year in the Global guide and is described as “a high-quality guy, both in terms of processing the law and being a deal maker, which is relatively rare in the legal world". He is also described as "very strategic and very solution-oriented".
  • Elizabeth Pillon, Head of the Toronto Restructuring & Insolvency Group is described as “a great person to work with – very smart” and as having “commercial reasonability” on deals; and she achieved a higher band ranking in the Global guide than previous years.
  • Ashley Taylor, is described as a “very competent litigator” who is “on top of his game” and rose through the ranks to achieve a higher ranking in the Global guide for his expertise and performance.
  • Newly added to the Global guide this year, Maria Konyukhova is described by clients and peers as a “great litigator, as well as an insolvency practitioner” and "really solid".

The Group was also recognized in the International Financial Law Review’s IFLR 1000: The Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms 2018. Not only did the Group receive a ranking as a leading law firm, but ten lawyers were recognized in restructuring and insolvency:
