Stikeman Elliott celebrates International Women's Day 2019 (#BalanceforBetter)

March 8, 2019

Our firm is committed to fostering gender-balance in our workforce through recruitment, retention and promotion of women within the firm. Women who work at Stikeman Elliott are respected for their leadership skills and passion for their careers, and are supported for continued success as role models at all levels in the firm and the community.

Stikeman Elliott recognizes that gender-balance is essential for a thriving working environment. We take pride in reporting that one third of our Partnership Board is comprised of women. In addition, 43% of our senior management positions are held by women. Each of these women bring with them their individual perspectives and expertise to their respective roles. Through our Board Diversity Initiative, we continue to support the advancement of women to corporate boards by hosting a number of workshops and events in partnership with Women Get On Board.

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2019, Stikeman Elliott proudly hosted firm members, their families, and our client community for a special viewing of the documentary The Woman Who Loves Giraffes, retracing Dr. Anne Innis Dagg’s groundbreaking 1956 journey to South Africa to study giraffes in the wild. This solo research mission to study animal behaviour in the wild was unprecedented and filled with powerful messaging; and cleared the path for future biologists, including Jane Goodall. Our guests enjoyed viewing this uplifting film and meeting Dr. Dagg, who was happy to share her inspirational story and life experiences with the audience.
