Stikeman Elliott’s Syrian Refugee Internship Program

June 20, 2018

On the occasion of World Refugee Day on June 20th, Stikeman Elliott would like to celebrate its Syrian Refugee Internship Program. This program was developed in 2016 in an effort to support a Syrian refugee family by making a one-year paid internship position available to a member of the family. The program aims to help facilitate the integration and resettlement of a refugee through the learning, mentoring and peer support available within the firm. In November 2017, the firm’s Syrian Refugee Support Committee welcomed the second intern in the program and is honoured to continue helping Canada’s refugees.

“Our country values diversity, compassion and inclusion, and these are the same principles that our firm honours,” said William Braithwaite, Stikeman Elliott Chair. “We are committed to continuing this important humanitarian program and look forward to welcoming future intern recipients.”

At Stikeman Elliott, embracing diversity is integral to our culture and history. We have always recognized that advancing diversity was – and remains – a business imperative; both in our workforce and among the clients we serve in Canada and around the world. These twin objectives are at the root of all our initiatives and are reflected in the mandate for our firm-wide Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
