  • AbitibiBowater group in its C$6B global restructuring under the CCAA and Chapter 11.
  • Yellow Media Inc. in its C$2.4B recapitalization transaction by way of a plan of arrangement under the Canada Business Corporations Act.
  • Air Canada in the proceedings instituted under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act by its exclusive maintenance services provider, Aveos Fleet Performance Inc.
  • Third Eye Capital Corporation, a secured lender, in the receivership proceedings of the OpsMobil and Ranch Energy Corporation group of companies before the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench (ongoing).
  • Bouclair Inc. and Bouclair International Inc., in their comprehensive restructuring proceedings under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, pursuant to which (i) substantially all of their assets were acquired by an investor group formed of well-known Canadian investors, and (ii) concurrently, Bouclair refinanced its debt and recapitalized the post-acquisition entity.
  • White Birch Paper Holding Company in the context of its proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.
  • Air Canada in its acquisition of several Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, the first-ever true Cape Town Convention EETC (enhanced equipment trust certificates) transaction by a non-US airline, involving novel insolvency opinions under the Cape-Town Convention (2013).
  • World Fuel Services and Western Petroleum Corporation in the context of the CCAA and Chapter 11 proceedings of Montreal Maine & Atlantic Co.
  • Stichting Homburg Bonds in the context of various bondholders holding in excess of C$600M of claims in the multi-billion CCAA restructuring of Homburg Invest Inc. et al.
  • Pascan Aviation Inc. et al. in the context of their proceedings under the CCAA and of a litigious filing with the debtors' secured lenders.
  • A secured lender in the context of the receivership of 333 Sherbrooke St. East L.P., a real estate project with over 30 unsold condominium units at the time of the insolvency.

  • Ernst & Young Inc. in its capacity as court-appointed monitor of Bluberi Gaming Technologies Inc. in proceedings under the CCAA in Canada  and Chapter 15 in the United States-Quebec Counsel to RCR International Inc. in the context of its liquidation under the CCAA with recognition proceedings under Chapter 15 of the US Bankruptcy Code.
  • A Canadian company with a verification process instituted by the United States Department of Commerce over insolvency transactions undertaken during the company's CCAA restructuring and allegations of unlawful subsidies under NAFTA.
  • Counsel to three owners of small hydroelectric facilities in the context of arbitration proceedings against Hydro-Québec in relation to the 20-year renewal of power purchase agreements (PPAs). This lengthy arbitration was the test case for the renewal of over 50 similar contracts entered into by the public utility in the same timeframe.
  • SNC-Lavalin Inc., in the context of the defense of two lawsuits totaling over C$750M instituted by ArcelorMittal with an engineering, procurement and construction management contract for the expansion of an iron ore facility in northern Quebec (ongoing).
