  • Counsel for various projects involving environmental impact assessment studies and public hearings, including projects for the dredging of contaminated harbour facilities, the remediation of a contaminated soil and groundwater site, the construction of a major wind power electricity generation site and the construction of a sanitary landfill in Canada and a quarry in the U.S. with trans-boundary environmental impacts. Also, counsel to the Government of Canada with respect to the application of federal environmental impact assessment procedures to James Bay hydroelectric projects.
  • Counsel in defending corporations, officers and directors charged with environmental offences and representing clients with respect to administrative orders.
  • Counsel to a major hazardous waste management company in a civil action related to responsibility for one of the most significant contaminated groundwater sites in North America.
  • Has acted as counsel in numerous environmental crisis situations, including governmental seizures and inspections, criminal investigations and spills, and has advised on planning how to manage and respond to such situations.
  • Has advised various clients regarding environmental compliance and permit issues, environmental management systems and directors’, officers’ and corporate environmental liability in a wide range of industries, including chemical, pulp and paper, metal, plastics, nuclear power and research, hazardous waste, transportation, pharmaceutical and food industries.
  • Counsel in various environmentally sensitive acquisition and financing transactions.
  • Counsel in litigation over environmental indemnity claims and in class action lawsuits.
